About This Blog

Hi!  I'm Suzanne.  I started this blog for the sole purpose of helping me stick to my New Year's Resolution of going vegan for the month of January 2011.  I figured that, if I had some place to write down what I was eating and cooking, how I was feeling about the process of giving up animal products, and whatever else popped into my head, I'd be more likely to stick with it.  That was my original intention.

I also wanted to make sure that I documented the entire process, even the parts where I struggle.  After a lifetime of eating animal products, it is really difficult to go cold turkey without a few slip-ups.  If anyone is reading this, I wanted them to know that it is truly a journey for me, not a destination.  I am human; I make mistakes; I blog about those mistakes,as well as my successes.

You might have stumbled across this blog.  Maybe you even like it.  If so, welcome (and thanks!).  I hope that if you do read it, you find something in here that is useful to you.  Maybe my journey will inspire you to eat more meat-free meals.  That was my goal for myself, at least.  Maybe you see a recipe that intrigues you.  I don't intend to put any recipe on here that I don't think is mighty tasty.  I also want to disclose that I am not the best about measuring in the kitchen, especially spices and seasonings.  I tend to just measure things into the palm on my hand.  It's really about tasting, and figuring out how you want your food to taste.  Think of these recipes as a jumping off point, and have fun making them your own, if you're so inclined.

I also want you to know that this blog is about my life, the way I eat and take care of my family, and the way I cook.  By no means am I an authority on veganism or nutrition.  If you have concerns about those things, I suggest you consult someone more qualified than me (say, perhaps, a nutritionist).  I am also not a perfect vegan, or environmentalist, or human.  But I do my best, so, please, I ask that you be patient and kind.
